Description

When Aspire lost our AmeriCorps funding due to federal funding cuts, many of our students wanted to know what they could do to help. They wrote letters, showed up at school and County board meetings, and gave a warm welcome to the 15 former AmeriCorps members we were able to hire back on in temporary positions.

Now, they're excited to get out in the community and help raise money to sustain Aspire's work going forward! On Sunday, July 20th, Aspire students will have a stand at the Columbia Pike Farmers Market (9am-1pm). We're looking for volunteers who can help make treats like cookies, brownies, and other baked goods that students can sell.

If you are someone who loves to bake and wants to support local students, this is a great, flexible opportunity! If you're interested, please email maggie@aspireafterschool.org with what you plan to bake and the amount. You can drop these items off at the Arlington Mill Community Center on Friday, July 18th or at the Farmers Market on Sunday, July 20th by 9am.
