Hospital Accompaniment Response Program (HARP) Volunteers respond to local hospitals to support survivors of sexual and domestic violence. HARP Volunteers will provide accompaniment, emotional support, crisis intervention, advocacy, and referrals before and after a Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (S.A.N.E.) and/or a domestic violence forensic exams. Volunteers are on-call for two 12 hour shifts each month, with flexible scheduling across all weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Volunteers must be available to report to INOVA Fairfax Hospital within 30-40 driving minutes of receiving the call (the hospital is not metro accessible). We are especially seeking those with availability to be on-call for shifts Monday-Fridays, 6am-6pm.
Volunteers must first complete 40 hours of training (conducted weekday evenings, in person and via Zoom 1-2x week) and submit background checks. Training cohorts are held three times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring). One year commitment required.
