The Arlington Outdoor Education Association (AOEA), a volunteer-led non-profit that owns and supports the Arlington Outdoor Lab in partnership with Arlington Public Schools, seeks new applicants for the Board of Directors to be elected in April 2026. 

The Board meets monthly on Tuesday evenings, typically via Zoom, with several in-person work days at the Lab property in Fauquier County. Board members serve three-year terms beginning at our annual meeting, April 18.

We are particularly seeking candidates with strong experience and interest in the following roles:

Board Secretary: coordinates meeting agendas, minutes, and Board member communications; maintains website and calendar (using WordPress and Google Workplace), and reviews key association documents and correspondence. 

Fundraising Chair: works with executive committee and fundraising consultant to set and achieve annual fundraising targets; point person for event planning as we approach 60th anniversary in 2027.

Volunteer Coordinator: liaison with outside groups, e.g., Girl Scouts, Scouts USA and Master Naturalists and other environmental groups, to schedule volunteer work days and overnights.
