Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Radio Station Manager to oversee the daily operations of WERA 96.7 FM. As a volunteer Radio Station Manager, you will be responsible for managing programming, coordinating volunteer activities, and ensuring that our station runs smoothly and effectively. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in radio station management or broadcasting who is passionate about community media and has the ability to lead and inspire a team of volunteers.
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/week
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Daily Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of WERA 96.7 FM, ensuring smooth execution of broadcasts, scheduling, and content delivery.
- Programming and Scheduling: Develop and maintain the station’s programming schedule, coordinating with show hosts and producers to ensure a balanced and engaging lineup.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteers, helping them to produce high-quality radio content. Act as the primary point of contact for radio show hosts and producers, providing guidance and technical support as needed.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Monitor programming for quality assurance and ensure that all content complies with FCC regulations, station guidelines, and community standards.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with the AIM leadership team to develop strategies for expanding programming, increasing listenership, and enhancing community engagement.
- Community Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, local businesses, and educational institutions to promote the station and foster collaborations.
- Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing live broadcasts, fundraising events, and community outreach initiatives to increase the station’s visibility and support.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain up-to-date records of programming schedules, volunteer hours, and station performance metrics. Support grant applications and reports as needed.
Required Experience:
- Experience in radio station management, broadcasting, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, community members, and external partners.
Recommended Experience:
- Previous involvement in community radio, low-power FM (LPFM) management, or nonprofit media organizations.
- Background in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or public relations.
- Familiarity with audio production, digital editing software, and broadcasting equipment.
