Join Wild Virginia on Monday, April 13th at 7pm for a discussion of The Book of Eels: Our Enduring Fascination with the Most Mysterious Creature in the Natural World by Patrik Svensson!

The improbable life cycle of eels has fascinated people from Aristotle to Sigmund Freud and Rachel Carson. The eels are born in the Sargasso sea then travel far to spend their long lives in freshwater before returning to the Sargasso sea to breed and die. They undergo incredible metamorphoses between their life stages. Surprisingly, much about how they live is still unknown.

The book explores not only the eels themselves but also the cultural and personal history that surrounds them.
