Description

Join Wild Virginia on Tuesday, February 10th at 7PM for an important webinar.

Join us on February 10 at 7:00 PM to learn about Salt Watch, an established, nationwide community science program led by the Izaak Walton League of America.

Salt Watch works to raise awareness and promote advocacy around the impacts of road salt runoff, while equipping volunteers with free test kits to measure chloride levels in local waterways. Through this program, community members across the country are helping document how road salt affects the waters we all depend on.

At this event, you’ll learn how crowdsourced Salt Watch data is collected and shared, and how anyone can access real-time chloride test results from across the United States.

Meet the speaker!

Abby Hileman is the Salt Watch Coordinator at the Izaak Walton League of America. In her role, Abby leads the efforts of the Salt Watch program, expanding the project into new regions across the country, reaching new groups of volunteers, and providing resources to make lasting change—from data to action. Abby received her BS in Biology at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. She has a passion for connecting people to their communities and to nature and believes that small scale actions add up to make a big impact on conservation success.
