This is a program led by GMU and True Ground staff, volunteers can expect:
Volunteer Camp Counselor (Ideally we would like to have the same volunteers throughout the camp!) -Volunteers will support the overall operations of the camp to ensure everything runs smoothly. Responsibilities include assisting with daily setup, organizing materials, and supporting general camp logistics. Volunteers will also help maintain an organized and efficient camp environment so that instructors and campers can focus on their work, with occasional light support provided to campers or staff as needed.

Spanish speaker could be beneficial but not required. Ideal is for this to be over 18, as the program is catered to 8-10th graders.

*All roles require setup and clean-up. Standing, bending, walking in indoors and outdoors, physical movement, and lifting equipment.

Popcorn Station 3:30-6:00 - Follow directions for easy machine operation.

Community Art Station 3:35-6:05

Ice Cream Distribution 3:40-6:10

Cotton Candy Machine 3:45-6:15 - Follow directions for easy machine operation.

This event will involve volunteers that like working with residents of all ages. The event will be half indooors and half outdoors. Volunteers should be able to stand for 1.5 hours. Lift and carry up to 20 lbs with the Ability to bend down and participate in light physical exercise (for yard games, if applicable). *All roles require setup and clean-up. Standing, bending, walking in and to different stations indoor and outdoor, physical movement, lifting equipment for game set up.

Support Resident Services with an AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center) grocery distribution located in one of our properties near the Columbia Forest neighborhood in Arlington, VA.

-Grocery Delivery (create grocery bags based on individual orders/preferences and delivery directly to resident door)

Volunteers should be comfortable working with other volunteers, staff, and families. Volunteers may need to move up to 15 lbs. Bilingual (Spanish/Amharic) preferred but not required.
