Communications Intern Lead
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per day., Location:Remote / Discord-based
The Communications Intern Lead plays a key role in guiding and mentoring our Communications Interns as they support outreach for our programs. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, people-centered, and excited to help emerging communicators grow in a supportive, youth-led environment. You’ll oversee day-to-day communications tasks, provide hands-on mentorship, and ensure interns gain a meaningful, credit-eligible experience that builds their confidence and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor a small team of Communications Interns
- Provide guidance on outreach to press contacts, partner organizations, and schools
- Review and support interns’ email communications and general outreach tasks
- Coordinate weekly check-ins and offer constructive, encouraging feedback
- Ensure interns meet academic credit requirements and maintain healthy boundaries
- Collaborate with the Social Media Director to align messaging and outreach goals
- Help interns develop confidence, clarity, and professionalism in their communication work
Qualifications
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Experience in communications, PR, marketing, nonprofit work, or youth leadership
- Ability to provide supportive, clear, and emotionally intelligent mentorship
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and guiding others through them
- Commitment to youth-centered, inclusive, and respectful organizational culture
