Children's Program Volunteers interact with the children in our Domestic Violence Safe House by playing games, helping with homework, and otherwise engaging in healthy and fun activities that help the kids take their mind off their trauma. It also allows caregivers to relax, do chores, or attend support meetings on-site at the shelter. The shelter is located about a 10 minute walk from the orange/silver lines. We ask volunteers to take two shifts per month, typically Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:45-8:15pm. Bilingual volunteers (English/Spanish) are especially welcome to apply!
Volunteers must complete 40 hours of training (conducted weekday evenings in-person and via Zoom, 1-2x per week) and submit background checks. Training cohorts are held three times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring). One year commitment required.
