Bike to Work Day is a region-wide community event that encourages bike commuting. On the morning of Bike to Work Day (Thursday, May 15, this year), different jurisdictions in the DMV set up morning and afternoon event "pit stops" to provide free breakfast, snacks, event T-shirts, and services to participating riders who can stop by on their way to work to mingle and engage with other riders.
The event runs from 7-9 a.m., and we need volunteer support hosting the three Bike to Work Day pit stops BikeArlington manages (Ballston, Rosslyn, and Shirlington). We especially need early-morning helpers for set-up (5-7 a.m.) so if you are a morning person, we really need you! Set-up volunteers would help us set up giveaways (e.g., organizing T-shirts by size on a table) and snacks. Hosting and breakdown volunteers would need to check people in when they arrive, give them free T-shirts, replenish drinks and snacks at the snack table, and then help us put everything away when the event is over.
Bike to Work Day is a really fun community event that celebrates a mode of transportation--biking--that is healthy and good for the environment. It is very gratifying to participate and always a good experience. We'd love your help!
