Support the Resident Services with our annual Rock and Read event. This event is open to children in grades 1-8 across our entire portfolio and is located centrally near the Bluemont neighborhood in Arlington, VA.

This is a program led by staff; volunteers can expect:
-Set Up Assistance 9:15-10:45 (help staff by setting up tables, chairs, activities and other items to be used during event. This volunteer may be asked to move up to 15 lbs while walking around.)
-Morning assistance 9:20-10:50 (help provide breakfast and snack options to residents and sign in families as they arrive. Volunteer may be standing or sitting.)
-Reading Lounge 9:55 AM-1:55 PM (work at one of the stations on acitivities such as silent reading, reading a-loud to kids, and updating the reading wall.)
-Craft Lab 10:00 AM-2:00 PM (work at one of the stations on activities such as bookmark, bracelet, and key chain making/decorating)
-Game Captain 10:05 AM-2:05 PM (lead the children attending on indoor or outdoor game options such as tug of war, board games, reading games.)
-Literacy Power Hour 10:10 AM-2:10 PM (read a-loud to kids in a small group setting max 10 kids)
-Afternoon Assistance 1:15-2:45 PM (Assist with lunch and snack optiosn for attendees. Help clean up and organize areas used for the event, put up tables and chairs. May involve walking around and moving up to 15 lbs.)
