Position Summary:
The Website Content Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, management, and ongoing maintenance of Arlington Independent Media’s (AIM) website. This role involves creating and updating website content, ensuring a user-friendly experience, and optimizing the website for both functionality and SEO. The ideal candidate will have a background in website management, content creation, or digital marketing and be comfortable working with web platforms and tools. This is a key role in ensuring that AIM’s online presence effectively represents the organization and engages the community.

Time Commitment: 6-10 hours/week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Website Development and Management: Oversee the development and ongoing management of AIM’s website, ensuring content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with the organization’s mission and brand.
  • Content Creation and Update: Create, edit, and update web content, including blog posts, event pages, program descriptions, volunteer opportunities, and news articles. Ensure all content is engaging, accessible, and optimized for search engines (SEO).
  • User Experience (UX) Optimization: Enhance the usability and navigation of the website, making it easy for visitors to find information and engage with AIM’s programs and services. Implement changes to improve the overall user experience.
  • Multimedia Integration: Integrate multimedia content such as videos, audio clips, and photo galleries to create a dynamic and engaging web presence. Collaborate with video and audio producers to incorporate relevant media into the website.
  • Website Maintenance and Updates: Regularly update plugins, themes, and software to maintain website security and functionality. Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise and coordinate with IT or web development support as needed.
  • Analytics and Performance Tracking: Monitor website performance using tools like Google Analytics. Track key metrics such as page views, user engagement, and bounce rates to assess the effectiveness of content and inform content strategy.
  • SEO and Digital Marketing: Implement SEO best practices to improve search engine rankings and increase traffic to AIM’s website. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure that web content supports digital marketing goals.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other AIM staff and volunteers, including the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Programming Directors, and Community Engagement Coordinator, to align web content with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Compliance and Accessibility: Ensure the website is ADA-compliant and accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. Follow web accessibility guidelines and best practices.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in website management, digital content creation, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with web platforms and content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, digital marketing, and UX best practices.

Recommended Experience:

  • Familiarity with web development languages such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript is a plus.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit communications, digital media, or community organizations.
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools like Google Analytics and proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Photoshop) is beneficial.
