Position Overview:
We are seeking an outgoing and motivated Community Engagement Coordinator to help strengthen AIM’s relationship with the local community. As a volunteer in this role, you will engage with local community groups, secure guest speakers and contributors for both radio and TV programming, and promote AIM’s activities to increase participation and visibility. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for community outreach, public relations, or nonprofit media who wants to make a tangible impact in their community.

Time Commitment: 6-10 hours/week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Outreach and Engagement: Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with local community groups, schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to increase awareness of AIM’s programming and opportunities.
  • Securing Guest Speakers and Contributors: Work with local organizations and community members to recruit guest speakers, interview subjects, and content contributors for both radio and television programming.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and coordinating community events, workshops, and special programming that promote community engagement and participation.
  • Volunteer and Participant Recruitment: Promote AIM’s volunteer opportunities and programming roles to community members, increasing volunteer engagement and participation.
  • Promotion and Communication: Create and distribute outreach materials, newsletters, and social media content to highlight AIM’s activities, partnerships, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the Social Media Coordinator, Programming Directors, and other team members to ensure community voices and perspectives are well-represented in programming.
  • Feedback and Evaluation: Gather feedback from community partners and participants to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts. Provide regular updates and reports on engagement activities and outcomes.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in community outreach, engagement, or public relations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community members and organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Recommended Experience:

  • Previous involvement in community media, public access television, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Knowledge of community organizing, media relations, or public affairs.
  • Background in event planning, volunteer coordination, or community programming.
