Join our Mentoring Youth in Virginia and Virginia Refugee Student Achievement Project and be a part of something truly meaningful. These programs connect volunteers with refugee youth to support them in schoolwork, community engagement, and goal-setting—while building powerful one-on-one relationships that make a difference.

As a mentor, you’ll help youth grow socially, academically, and professionally—while gaining a transformative experience yourself.

We ask for a six-month commitment to ensure strong bonds and real progress. Mentoring opportunities are available in Arlington, Manassas, Woodbridge, and Fredericksburg.

Join Migration & Refugee Services (MRS) in empowering newly arrived youth and young adults as they build new lives in the U.S. Our mentoring program is a life-changing opportunity—for them and for you.

MRS provides critical services like immigration support, housing, employment services, education, and more to help families rebuild and thrive. Now, we’re seeking mentors and tutors to support refugee youth (ages 15–24) in two key areas:

Youth Mentoring & Tutoring

Work with young adults on academic and personal success:

Homework help & tutoring

College and career prep

Navigating young adulthood in a new country

Requirements:

Mentors must be 21+

Tutors can be 18+ or high school students with an adult present

Background check

VIRTUS & Child Protection Training

Youth Employment Coaching

Support young adults and adults in preparing for the workforce:

Resume building

Interview skills

Job readiness & search strategies

One-on-one mentorship and coaching

Minimum Age: 21

VA Refugee Student Achievement Project needs your help! As a VRSAP Tutor, you will support our staff in:

Helping students succeed in education through tutoring and mentoring youth.  Monitoring the academic progress of studentsMaintaining regular communication with parents, students and staffEncouraging refugee parents to play an active role in their children's educationMaintaining a refugee student database to track participation

This opportunity covers the Arlington Diocese: Alexandria, Manassas, Fredericksburg, and the Occoquan areas. It is primarily a remote opportunity and has night and weekend hours. You will work with the student and family to find time to help.

Drivers needed!  This is an 'on-call' opportunity.

Staff urgently need your help to deliver baby supplies, papers requiring signatures, small items, furniture, and some clients to appointments. Our staff is spending most of their time delivering supplies and is looking for some help to free up time to provide direct support to our clients.

May drive personal vehicle or agency vehicle.
Driving authorization is required. A valid Driver's license and three years of driving history are necessary.
