Description

Chrysalis Development Group (CDG) will kick off 2026 by taking the Teen Science Café into the Metaverse, one of its most anticipated sessions yet. This event brings NASA‑level technology directly to Alexandria students.

A distinguished team from the University of Maryland/ESSIC, featuring Dr. Guangyang Fang and DJ Figueroa, along with Dr. Ir. Hendrik L. Tolman from NOAA, will lead the program. Together, they are pioneering climate research with VR/AR and the “Virtual Proving Ground,” conducting mission‑critical work for NASA and NOAA.

Students will discover how the same technology behind video games allows scientists to step inside hurricanes and study Earth in 3D. They will hear about the journey, from student intern to professional VR developer, learn how immersive tech is shaping future STEM careers, and earn Service Hours while exploring new volunteer opportunities.

The Teen Science Café is free to attend, with pizza and snacks provided.

  • Thursday, January 15, 2026

  • 3:30–6:00 PM
