Youth Democracy Institute

Youth Democracy Institute (YDI) is a newly launched youth civic leadership development organization based in Arlington, Virginia, serving Arlington County and the broader Washington metropolitan region. Since our founding in 2025, YDI has reached more than 100 participants from over 20 schools across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, and beyond through innovative civic leadership programs that equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to participate in democratic life and lead positive change in their communities.

Youth Democracy Institute (YDI) prepares young people ages 10–24 to become active participants in civic life. We partner with schools and community organizations to provide civic education, leadership skills, and real-world experiences. Our programs create clear pathways for youth to lead in their schools, communities, and future public service careers.
